My name is Yasek Manzano and I am a musician - jazzman and producer - from Havana, who lives passionately for the musical tradition of my country. I like sharing my live music with good friends in different sites - formally and informally, creating fun, instructive and a kind of familiar encounters. Cuban jazz is a big part of my daily life, and it has become, throughout my career, a philosophy of thought and creativity. But I'm also a lover of traditional son, changüí, rumba, bolero, songo and other emblematic genres of Cuba. I have a lot of experience as a host, offering private concerts and family gatherings in my home studio, as well as small workshops on the history of Cuban music and its projection into the world of modern electronic and alternative music. However, I also like to interact and learn, establishing good conversations to exchange points of view.
As host, what makes become your activities special?
I have worked as a host for 7 years for audiences from different regions such as North America, Europe, Latin America and even Asia, offering this cultural tourism service to all those people with interest to create a face-to-face encounter with a recognized Cuban artist. Among other things, from time to time I like to share in my sessions a good Cuban rum Habana Club 7 years and smoking an excellent Cuban cigar. (A good handmade Habano). I hope through my space in Yoplan connect and have productive experiences with more friends around the world, interested in knowing our music so great and special, and live new experiences to the Cuban, and to the real.
